Since 1960, the rally has been part of the Valais DNA. Over the years, the Rallye du Vin has become the Valais International Rally. From the late 1970s onwards, the event was included in the European calendar, with a large part of it taking place within the prestigious European Rally Championship.

The event is the most important in Switzerland with more than a hundred cars starting. The success and reputation of the event are also important thanks to a wonderful blend of terroir, authenticity, magnificent landscapes, and a passion for motor sports through the volunteers, supporters, crews, and teams present every year.
